Meet Our Chair Massage Therapists in San Diego, California

Our local massage therapists are trained and licensed to bring an amazing wellness experience directly to your office or event location. Our hand-selected therapists are not only professional and punctual, but also have extensive experience. Many have been working for The Back Rub Company for a decade or more. We treat them well and they, in turn, treat our clients well.

Each massage therapist expresses their Ikigai through the services they provide. Ikigai is a Japanese term, blending two words: “iki” meaning “to live,” and “gai” meaning “reason”. This translates to “a reason to live”.

Ready to learn more about your local San Diego massage therapists?

Here is Becca!

Becca serves central San Diego, with several clients in North County. She has been a massage therapist for 17 years.

She loves providing bodywork at events and festivals and really enjoys chair massage, as it’s a great way to work on a lot of people in a short amount of time and very gratifying to see them go from tense to blissed out so quickly.

She loves San Diego because the great outdoors is accessible year-round! Cowles Mountain or Sunset Cliffs are super three-mile hikes and only take about an hour. San Diego truly has the best weather, and there’s so much great food and music venues. Also, it’s easy to get around – everything is only 20 minutes away!

Becca believes her ikigai is to inspire others to be themselves, by being her authentic self in all situations. The best piece of advice she has ever been given is to never stop loving and to choose to see everything as a learning experience.

She believes the most inspiring thing about being a healer is the profound impact you can have on someone’s life, just by helping them out a little bit. If she was a superhero, Becca would be able to fly! In all actuality, her superpower is problem-solving.

Say Hi To Debbie!

Debbie has lived in San Diego County her entire life. Family, friends, the incredible weather and the many outdoor activities are some of the reasons she resides here. In her earlier years, she was a triathlete, competing in at least 50 races. She also ran a couple of marathons. One place she really likes to visit is Lions, Tigers and Bears, an exotic animal rescue fairly close to her home.

She graduated from San Diego State University with a BA in education, thinking she was going to become a teacher. The best advice Debbie received was from another teacher on her first assignment. She said that if she wasn’t 100% about teaching, to get out now. A year and a half later, she listened.

Since then, she became a licensed personal trainer. 22 years ago, she was drawn to the power and benefits of massage therapy and became a licensed massage therapist.

She enjoys chair massage because it enables her to provide immediate relief to a specific area and also enables her to introduce the benefits of massage to new clients. She works most areas of San Diego, with a focus in Sorrento Mesa.

Her approach to massage therapy is to listen to the client’s needs and provide massage accordingly. As a kid, she wanted to be a firefighter because she wanted to help people. Massage therapy is a different path from her original plan, but she still gets to help people, which is what she really loves to do. She believes that helping people is her superpower.

Say Hello To Maryfaith!

Maryfaith has been practicing massage therapy for 38 years and with The Back Rub Company since 2018. She travels all over San Diego County, from Rancho Sante Fe, Oceanside, Valley Center, Imperial Beach and Spring Valley.

Her favorite locations are outside or indoors with windows near the sea, mountains or happy people. Her best most favorite massage gig was a week on Namotu Figi for 15 people. When not working with the Back Rub Company, she has a private studio on a canyon that is delightful.

Though most of her work is on a table, Maryfaith’s joy for chair massage comes with the grateful recipients and the wonderful companies that provide this for their employees. She appreciates the challenge of getting as much done for the client to calm their muscles, nervous system and minds in the short amount of time she has. This also allows for her “spot work” to shine and to show the client that relaxation and reset can happen within a short amount of time. She loves the portability of her massage chair and the magic bubble she gets to create for clients even in a loud, crowded room.

Maryfaith enjoys the diverse terrain of San Diego County. Torry Pines Beach, with a steep street hike up hill and an equal hike down to the sea on the dirt path, is both delightful and a challenge and is adjacent to the Grand Pacific Ocean. It takes her breath away every time!

Her favorite restaurant is the Marine Room – fine dining at is finest! Luce’s in Bay Park has the best salmon on a bed of black rice, spicy green and coconut cream sauce. Juice Wave in Mission Beach cannot be beat for acai bowl, fresh juice and almond butter-filled dates rolled in chocolate. She likes to walk the full length of Mission Beach at low tide. Cordiano’s is an outdoor pizza kitchen on a vineyard in Rancho Bernardo. The view and pizza make you feel like you are in Italy.

Her Ikigai is to be a mom and she has four amazing adult children who are exceptional people, making the world a better place within their fields with creativity, care and fun. She did not know how much more love there could be until her grandbabies came.

The best advice she was given was to stay in her lane. She likes to try new things and staying true to who she is makes her a better person, practitioner and creative contributor to society as only she can be.

Introducing Shari!

Shari is a registered 200RYT Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance since 2018. She has been a massage practitioner since 1991 and has worked in San Diego with The Back Rub Company since 2017. She loves chair massage because the client gets to stay fully clothed, has convenient access to take a massage break at their workplace or event, can receive a short session and still get all the benefits of deep relaxation, relief of muscle soreness, increased bodily awareness and get up with the same blissful look on their face as if they’d gotten up off the table from an hour or longer massage at a luxury spa.

She loves San Diego, because of the mild weather and beauty of nature. Walking around Mission Bay or doing yoga on the cliffs overlooking the ocean in Pacific Beach are two of her favorite activities to refresh and rejuvenate her. With the San Diego Zoo and Safari Park, Sea World, Belmont Park, Balboa Park museums, events and concerts, the Japanese Friendship Garden, La Jolla Cove she loves being a tourist in her own city.

Shari’s ikigai is to help people feel good in their body and mind. She achieves that through application of therapeutic touch, health and movement education. She is inspired by seeing the “ah ha” insight as people increase their self-awareness and knowledge of this “vehicle” they move through life with and how that can lead to profound healing and improved quality and enjoyment of life.

Her superpower is the ability to provide what some of her clients have called a miracle massage – intuitive touch that improves how people feel. She always wanted to be a teacher and absolutely loves being a Health and Wellness instructor.

Meet Steve!

Steve is from Sacramento and has been a massage therapist since 2006. He moved down to San Diego in 2014 and has been working for The Back Rub Company since 2022. He prefers to massage in the central San Diego area, Mission Valley, Clairmont, Sorrento Valley, Chula Vista, and will travel as far north as Carlsbad.

He likes chair massage because usually it provides clients a little bit of relaxation while working. Any relief while at work is a good thing! He likes going to Coronado Island, and to the Mystic Mocha for coffee.

Providing massage for 18 years has been extremely satisfying. He believes it is great to be able to help someone whether it be physically or mentally.

If he were a superhero, he would like to fly.
