Here is Jackie!

Jackie enjoys providing chair massage so she can meet people at possibly the most stressful point in their day and offer a service they may not seek out otherwise. She has been a therapist for 32 years and has been part of The Back Rub Company since 2018.

She travels to the Greater Cincinnati area and northern Kentucky, having gone as far as Louisville, Lexington and Columbus. She loves the older architectural features in the Cincinnati area, the plethora of great small music venues and the foodie options! Two of her foodie faves are Otto’s on Main in Covington and The Winds in Yellow Springs.

Her Ikigai is to provide service. No matter what role she has been in: retail, administration, massage therapy, her top value has been finding the best way to serve.

The most inspiring part of Jackie’s job is when she works with her clients to find solutions to their situations. If she were a superhero, her superpower would be healing, laying on of hands to soothe and resolve pain.

Linda-chair-massage-Cincinnati

Meet Linda!

Linda does both table massage and chair massage anywhere it takes her. Doing both helps to mix it up and make more opportunities for her to meet people. She is quite an introvert, so meeting lots of people and talking with them keeps her from closing in on herself.

With chair massage, she also gets the chance to encourage people to take on caring for themselves; teaching them they have the power to correct some of their common aches and pains by teaching them the importance of stretching, drinking enough water and being mindful of posture.

She has been a licensed massage therapist for 23 years and a member of The Back Rub Company since 2021. Linda goes anywhere in the tri-state area and even beyond when the need arises. She lives in a small river town in Aurora, Indiana and works in a big river town, Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband find all the things they enjoy doing in both areas. They hike, canoe, find cozy coffee shops, go antique/flea marketing and listen to live music -local artists at small venues. Occasionally, they have the opportunity to BE the live music!

Her Ikigai has always been to help people. At an early adult age, she began caregiving for her first husband who got M.S., and continued caregiving for other people after her time with him. Going into massage therapy seemed like the right thing. It was something she had been curious about for a long time. In her Christian faith, Ikigai would be known as spiritual gifts. Years ago, a pastor helped her find out that her spiritual gifts are service and mercy. She believes that massage therapy is a great fit for those gifts!

A long time ago, she did face painting to help supplement her income. At the beginning, she expressed to her boss fears of being unsure of herself and going to new places. Her boss told her said, “Just hold your head up and walk in like you own the place.” Simple words, but they were what she needed to hear and can still hear her saying that even now!

On her Facebook page profile, she has “Introversion – it’s my superpower.” She is not sure if they hand out tights and a cape for that!

When she finally decided to go to school for massage, she was 55 and scared to death. She was afraid she was going to be the oldest in the class, but she wasn’t. She has come a long way and more comfortable in her skin now more than ever.

Rob-chair-massage-Cincinnati

Introducing Rob!

Rob has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 15 years and with The Back Rub Company since 2019. He lives in Northern Kentucky, which means he travels throughout the Greater Cincinnati Region; north to Dayton, west into Indiana and all around the circle highway. His favorite chair massage venue was about an hour’s drive up the Ohio River to a church camp with a commanding view of Kentucky and the river. He worked with his colleagues underneath a large open-walled Big Top Circus Tent, enjoying the breeze and Autumn Sun.

The Ohio River is dominant feature of the Cincinnati landscape and locals like brag about their hills and “Mount”-named neighborhoods. In reality these areas are ravines, and they provide areas of lovely parks and trails established by some very progressive 19th century thinkers, planners and doers.

One of his favorite things about Cincinnati is that it is a Major League Town and a travel destination for sports, arts and entertainment. Growing up in a small steel town, he was not accustomed to such a variety of events. In addition to massage, Rob loves to cook and share meals with friends, so he rarely eats out, except for pizza while playing trivia. One of the most inspiring things about massage is seeing the blissful smile of someone just lifting their face out of the cradle after a chair massage.

He doesn’t much follow the superheroes, but the fictional character who really inspires him is The Empath from the original Star Trek. That character could heal someone merely by laying hands. Unfortunately, she had to process their pain with her body, causing much suffering. Unlike her, his superpower is simply to channel his client’s pain using the universal healing energy around his body and into the ground of Mother Earth. Life’s sorrows and suffering are balanced with life’s joys. Massage is one of life’s joys.
