Relax at Work
A recent study performed by the International Journal of Neuroscience concluded what massage therapists have believed all along – that massage therapy can actually reduce anxiety as well as enhance electroencephalogram patterns of alertness and math computations, two qualities which often come in handy at the office.
Valley wide, employers are beginning to recognize the importance of having relaxed and alert employees, and are rubbing their staff the right way, literally. Many local business are now establishing workplace wellness programs for their employees including gym memberships, yoga breaks and workplace massage. The Back Rub Company, a workplace massage group, is being called upon to provide workplace massage services and other modalities, such as yoga, breathing and relaxation techniques and movement courses.
Tiffany Richards, The Back Rub Company’s owner, says, “Workplace massage has been around for well over 20 years. It’s just recently that employers are recognizing that there are actually viable benefits to it.”
Some of these benefits include relieving stress, improving alertness and motivation, easing tense and tired muscles, reducing anxiety levels, decreasing tension and migraine headaches, enhancing employee loyalty and morale and diminishing worker’s compensation and insurance claims.
The programs are ideal for long workdays, deadlines, employee and customer appreciations, holidays and other special occasions. Employers and their employees can choose from a variety of programs customized to fit specific needs.
