Women of Arizona Invited to Get Pampered at Alaskan Girlfriend’s Getaway Two Arizona Ladies Host Retreat

Ladies are encouraged to gather their BFFs and let their hair down this June at an all-inclusive Girlfriend’s Getaway on Kodiak Island, Alaska. The casual atmosphere of a remote eco-lodge in the pristine Alaskan wilderness is combined with the first-class pampering hard-working women deserve.

“As nurturers and caregivers, women can easily become overworked and undervalued, which can take a toll on health, marriages and job performance,” says Ginger Duncan, valley resident and Getaway facilitator. “When you take time to recharge your spirits, everyone whose lives you touch is better for it. You’re able to bring more energy and a renewed sense of self to everything you do.”

Ginger is the ultimate snowbird. A Queen Creek resident seven months out of the year, but from May thru September, there is no other place she’d rather be than Alaska. Ginger, along with her husband Stan, own Alderwood Retreat, a 40-acre parcel of wilderness on the beautiful north shores of the island. Primarily a sport fishing lodge and going into their fifth year in operation, Ginger decided to introduce a greater cross-section of America’s population to the beauty and magnitude of this incredible place.

“I’ve always felt that it’s not self-centered but rather necessary for women to take time out for themselves, to be refreshed and rejuvenated, so that they can have more energy and enthusiasm for performing their multi-faceted duties,” says Duncan. “So we’ve created a program that will appeal to a great many women in today’s society.”

Each guest’s affordable four to six day stay includes cabin lodging, all meals served family-style and the opportunity to take advantage of the activities that are inherent to the unique location, from angling for an Alaskan King Salmon to ocean kayaking - possibly right next to a 60-foot long Fin whale! Hiking, beachcombing, bird watching and photographing some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet are all wonderful ways to while away the hours.

In addition, Alderwood Retreat has teamed up with the valley’s premiere on-site massage and wellness firm, The Back Rub Company, to offer a full-range of services that are included with the stay. Staff from The Back Rub Company will be on-site to provide each guest a custom one-hour massage, daily fitness classes and an Aromatherapy workshop. Also provided will be cooking classes, instruction in pairing wines with food, naturalist guided hikes, a soap making workshop, facials and lessons in make-up artistry.
